Significance of Teaching, Learning…

Sindhi Navyuvak Mandal’s Rajkumar Kewalramani Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur,organised a NAAC sponsored National Seminar on the ‘Significance of Teaching, Learning and Evaluation in an Interdisciplinary Scenario’, on January 7th, 2017. The seminar was presided over by Mr. Vishram Jamdar, Chairman, VNIT, Nagpur.

In his keynote address, Dr. Vinayak Deshpande, Head of the Department of Business Management, RTM Nagpur University, and an administrator par excellence, threw light on the various aspects of teaching, learning and evaluation.

Dr. Vishram Jamdar, in his presidential address, touched diverse facets that affect the teaching/learning process like teacher quality, evaluation techniques and the students’ as well as teachers’ roles. Speaking on good teacher quality, he said that a good teacher was one who constantly updated his domain knowledge and effectively integrated new technology in his teaching methods.

Shri. Vijay Kewalramani, President of the Sindhi Navyuvak Mandal, stressed the need to develop students’ holistically which could be done through value-based education.

Dr. Dipti Christian, Principal, Hislop College, Nagpur in her address said that all the stake holders should work harmoniously for overall development of the educational institution.

Plenary Session I – Speaker was Dr. Prantik Banerjee, Associate Professor in English and NAAC Co-ordinator, Hislop College, Nagpur. The topic of his deliberation was The Great Digital Divide: Are Teachers Smart Enough to Teach Today’s Smart Generation? He said that information and communication technology (ICT) is an integral part of everyday lives. Young generation’s use of ICT differentiates them from previous generations of students and from their teachers.

The second speaker the session was Dr. G. A. Ghanshyam, Professor and Head, Dept of English, Govt Lahiri College, Chirimiri, C.G. The topic of his presentation was Use of Emotional Intelligence in ELT: An Edge to Success and Balance.

Plenary Session II – Speaker was Dr. Rekha Sharma, Associate Professor, Academic Staff College, Nagpur. She spoke on the necessity of introducing and implementing the innovative and relevant models like Moodle to keep with interdisciplinary approach in the field of education. Dr. Kartik Pannikar, Associate Professor in English, J. M. Patel College, Bhandara was the second speaker of this session.

In the Valedictory, Dr. Anjan Naidu, Principal J. M. Patel College, Gondia addressed the delegates. The IQAC Members of the institution Dr. Shubha Mishra, Shir. Vishram Jamdar, Dr. Bahu Daydar, Dr. Suchita Marathe and Sudesh Bhowate were prominently present.
