Grievance Redressal Cell

Grievance Redressal Cell Policy

The college has established a Grievance Redressal Cell as per the directions of the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. The Grievance Redressal Cell aims to address complaints lodged by any student and to provide timely redressal. The cell handles grievances concerning both academic and non-academic matters within the campus. It evaluates the complaints lodged by students, judging their merit, and is also empowered to address matters of sexual harassment.

Grievances may be presented in person to the department members or in consultation with the Officer In-charge of the Grievance Redressal Cell. For those unwilling to appear in person, grievances can be submitted in writing at the letter box/suggestion box of the Grievance Cell located near the administrative office.

Objectives:

  • Maintaining a cordial Teacher-Student Relationship.
  • Creating a pleasant environment in the college by strengthening student-teacher relationships.
  • Encouraging students to express their grievances/problems freely and frankly, without fear.
  • Raising awareness about the availability of members for students and faculties to report grievances.
  • Establishing a platform where students can discuss their problems regarding academic and non-academic matters.
  • Ensuring effective solutions to student grievances with an impartial and fair approach.
  • Investigating reported cases of sexual harassment of women, if any, and recommending action against the accused to the disciplinary authority.

Mechanism of the Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC):

  • The GRC will consider only individual grievances of a specific nature from students and staff.
  • It will not entertain grievances of general applicability or those raised collectively by more than one person.
  • Upon receiving a complaint, the committee will assess the merit of the case for further discussion or investigation and act promptly.
  • If necessary, the GRC may mediate between the complainant and the defendant.
  • The GRC aims to address grievances within a reasonable timeframe and reports to the authority on cases attended, seeking higher authority guidance when required.

Scope:

The cell addresses grievances related to:

  • Timely issuance of duplicate mark-sheets, transfer certificates, conduct certificates, and other examination- and scholarship-related matters.
  • Dues and payments for various items from the library, and other financial matters.
  • Concerns about sanitation, food preparation, transport availability, victimization by teachers, and any other offensive activity.

Procedure for Lodging a Complaint:

Students should submit their grievances using the prescribed form available near the administrative office. Completed forms must be dropped in the box placed outside the office. The Secretary will then notify the committee for necessary action. The course of action will be decided, and the outcome will be communicated to the students.
